Involvement in boards and committees

Joint research at the EU level requires coordinated regulation. Structures for topic identification, coordination, co-determination, and financing form a close-knit, international network.

The ptble represents the interests of the BMEL in the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR) and advises policy makers. The ptble is a member of the SCAR Working Group/Steering Group and participates in a number of subgroups.

SCAR is an independent, transnational advisory body to the European Member States and the European Commission. Long-term strategic cooperation and identification of research and cooperation needs are key objectives of SCAR. Its recommendations are particularly well received by EU bodies, the European Research Area (ERA) and the national level of the Member States. The Plenary Assembly is the overarching body appointing specific working groups, initiatives proposed by the Commission and/or the SCAR Steering Group. The Steering Group plans and coordinates the Plenary Assembly, organises new Working Groups and supports existing Working Groups.
