Members, mode of operation, goal and products

In the Federation-Länder-Working group on Climate Mitigation and Adaptation in Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Aquaculture (BLAG ALFFA), representatives of the Länder, the BMEL's departmental research (Friedrich Loeffler Institute, Julius Kühn Institute, Thünen Institute and Max Rubner Institute), the Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe (FNR), the German National Meteorological Service (DWD) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) work together, under the coordination of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and on a continuous basis, to implement both the Agenda for Climate change Adaptation in Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Aquaculture and its associated programme of measures.

The BLAG ALFFA aims to develop solutions for the diverse challenges posed by climate change in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture. The BLAG ALFFA meets every six months.

The BLE supports the BLAG ALFFA serving as its secretariat. In addition to supporting the implementation of the programme of measures, secretariat tasks include invitation management, minutes and reporting.

Products

At the end of 2021, the BLAG ALFFA convened the AG Wald, an expert panel consisting of more than 30 forestry experts from the Länder and the federal government, in order to concretise and prioritise the challenges as well as the measures needed to conserve our forests and their ecosystem services in a changing climate, on the basis of the programme of measures for the implementation of the Agenda for Climate change Adaptation in Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Aquaculture.
